Thunberg Protests Against ‘Green Energy’ Wind Turbines

Climate change is not a big enough problem to take an all-hands-on-deck approach to the problem, at least to the world’s most famous climate activist.

Fox News reported that “climate activist Greta Thunberg on Monday chained herself to the entrance of the Norway Ministry of Energy to protest wind turbines operating on lands used by the Sami Indigenous people to herd reindeer.”

Yes, you read that correctly. Greta Thunberg, a teenage celebrity and child prophetess of the celebrity climate change movement, was protesting green energy. You see, we must act now! But only if creating “green energy” doesn’t disrupt Reineer ranchers.

“The well-known 20-year-old climate protester sat with activists from the indigenous group, mostly teenagers, to protest the government’s solution to expand clean energy and said going green should not come at the expense of indigenous rights,” Fox continued.

The turbines in question currently run on land in Arctic Norway, which the nation’s Supreme Court ruled in 2021 violated the rights of the Sami who have used the land to raise reindeer for centuries. However, the wind farm has continued to operate.”

“Indigenous rights, human rights, must go hand-in-hand with climate protection and climate action,” Thunberg told Reuters. “That can’t happen at the expense of some people. Then it is not climate justice.”

The outlet noted that “Norway’s supreme court in 2021 ruled that two wind farms built at Fosen in central Norway violated Sami human rights under international conventions, but the turbines remain in operation more than 16 months later.

Thunberg, an advocate for ending the world’s reliance on carbon-based power, has said governments should not allow the transition to green energy to be at the expense of Indigenous Sami rights.

“They should have seen it coming for violating human rights,” Thunberg told Reuters when asked about the need for the protests, while she was sitting outside the energy ministry.”

It looks like the poor reindeer herders are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. CBS said that “the climate change that wind farms are aimed at easing by shifting to green energy is actually making the Samis’ centuries-old tradition of animal husbandry more difficult.

Warmer average temperatures have meant less snow and more ice in the region over the last decade or so, one Sami herder told Phillips, and reindeer cannot forage for their preferred food, lichen, through ice.”

We noted earlier in the month that the former Time Person of the Year has recently outed herself as less concerned with climate change and more concerned with leftwing social change.

The trajectory of Thunberg’s life going from worried about the end of the world due to climate change to typical leftwing “anti-capitalist” was easy to predict. Blaze Media saw the writing on the wall years ago.

Steve Deace wrote, “Greta was the perfect vessel for what other people, young and old, often try in the name of various progressive shibboleths, but can’t quite pull off because the lure of autonomy in their lives is just too strong. But the girl who just admitted she hardly spent any time talking to people before this year of pagan jubilee was programmed by her parents to live in such fear of a climate Armageddon that one neurosis was simply traded for another. Yes, that’s right. Her parents manipulated her curse of perpetual discomfort and weaponized it to suit the ends of the inglorious group think.

Because that’s what cult members do.

Greta is meant to be a perfect progressive model for us all. Get in line without question, forfeiting whatever allegiances and authentic personality you once had, and marginalizing into extinction all else that competes with your false Utopian yearnings with a nagging and hostile vigor. You will and must be assimilated in such a fashion. The Borg would be proud. Them, and Antifa.”

Thunberg recently made radical comments demanding “the overthrow of capitalism” as the chief objective of the climate movement. Unherd documented her parroting the siren song of progressivism while applying the varnish of environmentalism.

“Interspersed among the usual directives about the need to pressure political leaders, her message was more radical and more militant than it has been in the past. There is no “back to normal”, she told us. “Normal” was the “system” which gave us the climate crisis, a system of “colonialism, imperialism, oppression, genocide”, of “racist, oppressive extractionism”. Climate justice is part of all justice; you can’t have one without the others. We can’t trust the elites produced by this system to confront its flaws — that’s why she, much like Rishi Sunak, won’t be bothering with the COP meeting this year. COP itself is little more than a “scam” which facilitates “greenwashing, lying and cheating”. Only overthrow of “the whole capitalist system” will suffice.

So now we are finally seeing the contours of Thunbergism. Run your eye down the contributors to The Climate Book and you can see who she’s been reading: Jason Hickel, Kate Raworth, Naomi Klein. For these people the climate crisis isn’t man-made. It’s made by capitalism, as are the other forms of social injustice which plague society. There’s no GDP growth — especially of the capitalist sort — without increasing carbon emissions. The only solution to this state of emergency is for rich countries to immediately abandon economic expansion as a social goal.

It is hardly surprising that Greta thinks this way given how closely tied environmental activism has become with the more experimental end of the modern Left.”
