Lauren Sánchez is reportedly urging her husband, Jeff Bezos, to consider a presidential run, with an anonymous source telling gossip writer Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice that she sees the White House as the next step in the billionaire’s legacy.
The column claims Sánchez warmed to the idea after a White House visit coinciding with the arrival of Chinese President Xi Jinping. One anonymous insider said the prospect of a “President Bezos” appealed to her as a way to secure something even her husband’s fortune could not deliver.
“She talks about legacy, influence and what Jeff could do that money alone cannot buy. And yes, she can absolutely see herself as First Lady,” according to the report.
A second source described a similar outlook, with the nation’s highest office apparently figuring as the crowning achievement in an already extraordinary life. “Her question is always: What’s left? In her mind, the presidency is the ultimate final act,” the source said. Bezos has given no indication that he is preparing a campaign, though the insider added that he “listens to Lauren.”
Bezos and several other heavy hitters in the tech industry attended President Trump’s second inaugural.
The Amazon founder has also said that Trump is “more mature” in his second term, praising the president.
“Trump has lots of good ideas, and he’s been right about a lot of things,” Mr. Bezos said in a lengthy interview with the journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.” “You have to give him credit where credit is due.”
Sánchez, a former journalist, married Bezos in a three-day Venice celebration in June 2025. People close to the couple have described her as the driving force behind his increasingly public profile. According to the latest account, her ambitions for the couple extend well beyond the society pages: “She can already picture President Bezos — and herself standing beside him as First Lady.”
Neither Bezos nor Sánchez has confirmed the report, which relies entirely on anonymous sources. But the ambition those sources describe is revealing: the presidency as the final prize for a couple who already have almost everything.
