‘Death to America’ Chants Happening In United States

In February, Democrats in Michigan were outraged when the Wall Street Journal published an op-ed that labeled Dearborn, Michigan, a city outside of Detroit, “America’s Jihad capital.” 

Stephen Stalinsky, the executive director of the Middle East Media Research Institute, wrote, “Thousands march in support of Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran. Protesters, many with kaffiyehs covering their faces, shout ‘Intifada, intifada,’ ‘From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,’ and ‘America is a terrorist state.’ Local imams give fiery antisemitic sermons. This isn’t the Middle East. It’s the Detroit suburb of Dearborn, Mich.

Almost immediately after Oct. 7, and long before Israel began its ground offensive in Gaza, people were celebrating the horrific events of that day in pro-Hamas rallies and marches throughout Dearborn. A local headline describing an Oct. 10 event at the Ford Performing Arts Center read ‘Michigan rally cheers Hamas attack.’ Imam Imran Salha of Dearborn’s Islamic Center of Detroit told the crowd that Israel’s past actions have put “fire in our hearts that will burn that state”—Israel— “until its demise.” In May 2023, Mr. Salha had urged his congregation to say ‘amen’ in agreement with his prayer that Allah ‘eradicate from existence” the ‘sick, disgusting Zionist regime.’ In October 2022, according to the Washington Free Beacon, his organization received $150,000 in funding from the Homeland Security Department’s nonprofit security grants program.

At another rally, held Oct. 14 in front of the Henry Ford Centennial Library, Imam Usama Abdulghani also didn’t hide his support for Hamas’s terrorist actions. The American-born, Iranian-educated Shiite Islamic scholar called Oct. 7 ‘one of the days of God’ and a ‘miracle come true.’ He described the attackers as ‘honorable.’ He said they were “lions’ defending ‘the entire nation of Muhammad the messenger.’”

The article was met with typical condemnation. Mariam Charrara, executive director of ACRL, says the op-ed written by Steven Stalinisky was “anti-Arab, anti-Muslim, racist and Islamophobic.”

The article was also condemned by Democratic Mayor of Dearborn Abdullah Hammoud.

“It’s garbage. This is purely inflammatory, and it was meant to stoke fear, to stoke division, to stoke hate. As someone who grew up in the post-911 era, this shows me that not much has changed and this is media malpractice,” Hammoud said. 

Fast forward six weeks and a protest to celebrate the end of Ramadan featured shouts of “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” during an International Al-Quds Day rally held in the town.

“Imam Khomeini, who declared the International Al-Quds Day, this is why he would say to pour all of your chants and all of your shouts upon the head of America,” Tarek Bazzi, a Michigan-based activist associated with the Hadi institute, said in a video from the rally that was shared by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), according to Fox News.

Bazzi’s comments were followed by crowds chanting “Death to America!” in the background.

The activist went on to quote Malcom X, who said the U.S. is “one of the rottenest countries that has ever existed on this Earth,” while arguing to eliminate the entire American “system.”

“It’s not just Genocide Joe that has to go,” Bazzi said, referring to President Biden. “It is the entire system that has to go. Any system that would allow such atrocities and such devilry to happen and would support it – such a system does not deserve to exist on God’s Earth.”

While Dearborn’s mayor condemned the protests, Joe Biden has embraced the antisemitism, anti-Israel radicalism that has engulfed his party as fears that he will lose the swing state of Michigan to Trump, a state the former president won in 2016.

One of the leaders of a group of leftwing students who were expelled from Vanderbilt University after holding a sit-in in support of Hamas and allegedly assaulting a security guard has been connected to the White House. 

Red State reports that “Florida native Jack Petocz is one of three students arrested by campus police after the incident on a charge of assaulting a security guard. Those arrested were also expelled by the university, while one student was suspended and 22 more put on probation. After his expulsion, Petocz penned a rambling, whiny, and bigoted Twitter/X thread about the ordeal, claiming that he was expelled “for the ultimate crime of caring as 33,000 people have been murdered.”

Security footage, however, shows the crowd shoving a security guard as they forced their way into the building.

The 19-year-old is no stranger to campus discipline, though, and has a long history as a semi-professional agitator. His evolution and its timeline are interesting and instructive when looking at the various astroturf protests around the country.”

Red State goes on to document how Petocz, who is gay and would likely be murdered by Hamas if he lived in Gaza, is a semi-professional activist who was part of the manufactured protests against Ron DeSantis and his push to not teach kindergarteners about sex. 

The news comes as Democrats have turned on Israel in desperation to hold on to the votes of the “Death to America” voting bloc in Michigan. Nancy Pelosi recently signed a letter demanding that the White House stop supplying weapons to Israel as it continues to attempt to free the hostages and rid the world of the terrorist group that perpetrated the largest killing of Jews since the Holocaust. 

Hamas has rejected the latest offer for a ceasefire, yet Democrats have no interest in asking why or discussing the terrorist group’s goals.
