Federal agents searched Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Washington-area home before dawn Monday, escalating an immigration investigation that Trump administration officials have publicly discussed for months. The search focused on immigration documents completed by the Minnesota Democrat’s late father when she was a child, according to sources cited by Fox News Digital. CBS News separately confirmed the search and the reported focus on her childhood paperwork.
“Today in the Washington, D.C. area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice,” a DOJ spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation,” the spokesperson added.
The warrants were likely signed off on by Democratic judges in the nation’s capital.
The department’s statement offered no details about the suspected violations or evidence supporting the warrant. Omar’s office did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment. The title of the mission was named “World War 11,” after an infamous gaffe made by the Somali-born member of Congress.
WaPo reports that the federal criminal fraud investigation investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is called “World War 11”, an apparent reference to a recent comment Omar made when she said the Alien Enemies Act hadn’t been used since “World War Eleven”.…

The operation follows statements from border czar Tom Homan acknowledging an ongoing investigation. In September, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin also said investigators were examining Omar’s marriage history and the circumstances surrounding her family’s immigration. Monday’s search brings a concrete enforcement action after those public declarations.
Much of the earlier controversy centered on Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, a British citizen Omar legally married in 2009 and divorced in 2017. Critics have alleged that Elmi is her brother and that the marriage was arranged to obtain immigration benefits. Omar has repeatedly denied that he is her brother, and no court or federal agency has publicly established that allegation.
Her marital history also produced documented tax questions. Omar filed joint returns with Ahmed Hirsi, the father of her children, in 2014 and 2015 while she remained legally married to Elmi. Those filings were later corrected. They revived scrutiny of the marriage but did not establish that Omar and Elmi were siblings.
Omar has faced separate scrutiny over her finances. An amended disclosure sharply reduced previously reported asset values, a discrepancy her office attributed to an accountant’s failure to account for liabilities. In September, however, the Office of Congressional Conduct voted 5–1 to recommend dismissing that inquiry, finding insufficient grounds to conclude that she had reported false or incomplete information. That recommendation was advisory and concerned the disclosure dispute.
New Conservative Post also reported in May on allegations from convicted Feeding Our Future founder Aimee Bock, who questioned whether Omar had been unaware of Minnesota’s massive pandemic meal-fraud scheme. Bock’s assertions did not establish wrongdoing by Omar, and authorities have not publicly connected Monday’s search to that case.
The search marks a significant escalation, but the central questions remain unanswered: what investigators believe was false in the immigration paperwork, what evidence they have gathered, and whether prosecutors will bring charges. The Justice Department’s public statement announced an ongoing investigation, not a criminal charge against the congresswoman.
