Biden Releases Memo Laying Out His Debate Strategy

Although the only way to get Joe Biden to debate Donald Trump involved making demands that gave the current president a clear advantage, the Biden campaign is now talking a big game as it prepares for next month’s tussle on CNN.

The Biden campaign has admitted that their guy’s presidency has been a disaster for regular people, so they intend to make the election a referendum on Trump rather than standing up for their “accomplishments,” such as the Inflation Reduction Act, which didn’t reduce inflation, and the “adults being back in charge” of foreign policy, which has seen two major wars breakout and a military debacle in the form of withdrawing from Afghanistan.

The Washington Examiner offered details on their plan.

Biden is set to “hold Donald Trump accountable” on the debate stage, according to campaign Chairwoman Jen O’Malley Dillon’s “The Road to Atlanta” memo released Friday.

“In the month leading up to that first debate, the Biden-Harris campaign will zero in on Trump’s dangerous campaign promises and unhinged rhetoric,” O’Malley Dillon wrote. “We will make sure that the voters who will decide this election are reminded of the chaos and harm Trump caused as president – and why they booted him out four years ago.”

The campaign is singling out three lines of attack against Trump, from his efforts that led to the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade to his false allegations that the 2020 election was “stolen” and his support for economic policies that allegedly benefit the billionaire class at the expense of the middle class.

“Trump and his lagging campaign will be left to explain to voters why he embraces political violence, brags about abortion bans, threatens to repeal the Affordable Care Act and cut Social Security and Medicare, and puts greedy corporations and himself over American workers again and again,” O’Malley Dillon continued.

Biden said he would only debate Trump if the rules meant there was no live audience, was only shown and moderated by liberal-leaning news outlets like CNN, and did not involve the “annoying” RFK, Jr.

America’s News Desk recently reported that the incumbent also demanded that they not use podiums, opting for sitting at a table. The outlet noted that “standing could be a problem for Biden, who has appeared to have a hard time staying on his feet. In April, reports revealed that the president would no longer walk to Marine One by himself and that he has been wearing special shoes.”

The Biden debate memo comes as Donald Trump has been holding large rallies in areas that are supposed to be dominated by Democrats.

A local New York City affiliate reported that “a rally for former President Donald Trump drew a large crowd at Crotona Park in the Bronx Thursday night.

NY1 reporters on scene said the turnout was in “in the thousands.”

Trump in 2020 won only 16% of the vote in the borough, which is considered a Democratic stronghold. Nevertheless, Trump — in the city for his criminal hush money trial in Manhattan — used a recess in the trial to campaign for support in his presidential bid.

The rally in the Bronx was big enough to cause liberals to worry, sparking attempts to downplay the size of attendance, which was said to be around 25,000.

Fox News pointed out that “liberal media commentators, journalists and New York Democrats complained about the massive crowd that showed up for former President Trump’s campaign rally in deep-blue New York City, calling the showing “fake” and full of out-of-towners.

Certainly a bigger crowd than I think Democrats would like to see, particularly given this is one of the bluest counties in the entire country,’ CNN correspondent Kristen Holmes said, noting that many attendees were from the Bronx.

Over on MSNBC, hosts Alex Wagner and Joy Reid also tried to downplay the rally on their Thursday night shows. Wagner called the surprise showing as a “fakey campaign stop” before asking her progressive guest to weigh in on Trump’s attempt to woo Black voters.

‘You described that rally as fraught. I would describe that rally as fraud,’ Center for American Progress President Patrick Gaspard said. ‘It was AstroTurf. They imported a whole bunch of people into the Bronx. Let’s be really clear here: Donald Trump ain’t winning the Bronx.’

Reid, on her show, questioned what ‘the point’ of Trump going to the Bronx was and speaking to Black and Latino voters whom he’s “not fond of’ in a place ‘he can never win.'”

Polling has claimed otherwise. Biden has been warned that African Americans have been fleeing his terrible policies and a recent survey revealed that “younger Black voters are more disillusioned with Biden and more open to Trump and third-party alternatives, while older Black voters are far more supportive of Biden and resistant to other options,” according to Steve Kornacki at NBC News.
