UFC CEO Dana White is flying to Washington for a Monday meeting with President Donald Trump about an offer to become White House press secretary, according to TMZ.
White, who was in London for a boxing match, confirmed the meeting and said he was flying to the capital “right now,” according to sources with direct knowledge of the plans.
Trump announced the offer Saturday on Truth Social, praising White and saying he would “be a Press Secretary like none other.” The president added, “Dana, please take the job!”
White talked about the job after the latest UFC event.

The position has been vacant since mid-October, following a turbulent stretch for the administration’s communications team. Karoline Leavitt left after roughly 19 months in the role, saying she wanted to spend more time with her family. Her successor, Katie Zacharia, lasted just five days. She faced criticism after her first briefing and questions about her claims to have practiced law; she had not passed the bar exam. Vice President JD Vance reportedly told her she was out during an interview.
The vacancy persisted through the midterm elections, where Republicans suffered significant losses. In the weeks before Election Day, some White House staffers floated another unconventional name: Nicki Minaj. Communications Director Steven Cheung posted a video of Minaj aboard Air Force One and wrote, “Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House press secretary!”
White and Trump have known each other for years, including through UFC events hosted at the White House. The press secretary job would put White at the center of the administration’s daily messaging, with briefings for reporters and public responses to the president’s policies.
White’s decision is expected to become clearer after Monday’s meeting. The role carries a demanding schedule and a public spotlight that has proved difficult to sustain under the current administration.
