Testimony in a London courtroom this week revealed that Barron Trump, the 19-year-old son of U.S. President Donald Trump, played a decisive role in saving a woman’s life after alerting British police to a violent assault he witnessed in real time over FaceTime.

The evidence emerged during proceedings at Snaresbrook Crown Court, where prosecutors detailed a harrowing early-morning attack that took place on January 18, 2025. The victim, whose identity is protected, was allegedly assaulted inside her London flat by her former boyfriend, 22-year-old Russian national Matvei Rumiantsev, according to reports. Prosecutors told the court that Rumiantsev’s rage was fueled by the woman’s friendship with Barron Trump.

As the attack unfolded, the woman managed to initiate a FaceTime call to Trump, who was in the United States at the time. In a matter of seconds, he reportedly saw only the ceiling of the room, heard screaming, briefly glimpsed a man, and then saw the woman crying as she was being struck. He immediately called the UK emergency number, 999.

Audio played for jurors captured Trump speaking with urgency but composure. “I just got a call from a girl I know. She’s getting beaten up,” he told the operator. He then supplied the address and stressed, “It’s really an emergency, please. I got a call from her with a guy beating her up.”

Police arrived swiftly. Body-worn camera footage and officer testimony were later presented in court. When officers spoke with the woman, she identified the caller as Barron Trump. One officer was heard remarking to a colleague that the individual who raised the alarm from the United States was likely the president’s son.

In subsequent messages, the woman asked Trump whether he had contacted police, and he confirmed that help was on the way. Trump later explained his actions to investigators, telling officers: “She called me. I picked up the phone expecting a nice hello or something… I just saw a ceiling and could hear screaming… I called you guys – that was the best thing I could do. I wasn’t going to call back and threaten things to him because that would just make the situation worse.”

The woman testified that the intervention was decisive. She described the FaceTime connection as “a sign from God at that moment,” and told the court bluntly, “He helped save my life.”

Rumiantsev has been charged with assault, two counts of rape, intentional strangulation, and attempting to pervert the course of justice. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

First reported by British tabloids and later picked up by U.S. outlets, such as The New York Post, the episode has prompted widespread praise for Trump’s calm judgment under pressure — a brief call, a clear decision, and a response that prosecutors say likely prevented a far worse outcome.
