FBI Director Kash Patel has uncovered a trove of long-hidden documents tied to the Trump-Russia investigation inside a secret room at FBI headquarters, according to sources familiar with the discovery who spoke with Fox News. The stash—found in so-called “burn bags” typically used to destroy sensitive materials—reportedly includes thousands of pages and computer hard drives, among them the classified annex to former Special Counsel John Durham’s final report.
Speaking in a June interview with podcast host Joe Rogan, Patel described locating the previously undisclosed room inside the bureau’s Hoover Building. “Comey and others hid [this room] from the world… locked the key and hid access and just said, ‘No one’s ever gonna find this place,’” Patel said. He added the room was filled with documents and storage devices “that no one had ever seen or heard of.”
The materials are now in the hands of Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, whose office is working with CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and acting NSA Director William Hartman to declassify the annex and related intelligence. Grassley is expected to release the documents publicly once the declassification process is complete.
It’s all going to come out.

Fox claimed that the find included intelligence from credible foreign partners indicating the FBI was preparing to push the Trump-Russia collusion narrative even before officially opening the Crossfire Hurricane probe in July 2016. “Mere days after this intelligence was collected, the FBI launched Crossfire Hurricane,” one source noted, calling the sequence “alarmingly specific” and raising questions about coordination among senior Obama-era officials. The source added that former officials including John Brennan, James Clapper, and James Comey would have to account for the timing.
Among the more explosive revelations is the existence of a previously unknown SCIF—Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility—within the FBI’s own headquarters. Patel’s team continues to review additional documents, some of which reportedly relate to ongoing investigations and Grassley’s prior requests concerning Durham’s probe into the origins of the Russia investigation.
Those involved in examining the papers, according to The New York Post, include Patel, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Attorney General Pam Bondi and acting National Security Agency Director William Hartman.
Responding to the news, President Trump said, “I want everything to be shown. You know, as long as it’s fair and reasonable, I think it will be shown.”
The disclosure builds on Patel’s previous work under then-House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes, where he played a key role in exposing surveillance abuses targeting Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. Page, responding to news of the latest discovery, said, “While most members of Congress were ready to ignore the unprecedented civil rights abuses against the Trump campaign and myself, Kash Patel’s training as a top public defender made him the perfect advocate for exposing one of the greatest election interference scandals of all time.”
Patel has also launched criminal investigations into former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan, following a referral from Ratcliffe. The probes focus on allegations of false statements to Congress and broader concerns about the integrity of the 2016 intelligence assessments. Officials say CIA Director John Ratcliffe referred evidence of Brennan’s alleged misconduct to FBI Director Kash Patel for criminal review. The referral was received and a criminal investigation into Brennan was opened and is underway, sources at the Department of Justice told Fox News.
Grassley has been the congressional leader investigating how the FBI has poiticied. Throughout Joe Biden’s term he discovered mounting evidence of corruption at the Bureau involving how it covered up potential problems for Democrats related to the Biden family’s alleged influence peddling schemes. His team is currently combing through the material.
