In March, a survey conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showed that nearly a quarter of Americans hold limited trust or no trust at all in the CDC’s health recommendations, a significantly higher percentage compared to doctors and nurses. What’s been driving this lack of faith comes from the way the CDC has politicized to support leftwing ideology over science during the past five years.
For example, in April 2020, during the height of the pandemic, but following the death of George Floyd and the protests that followed, Politico summarized the CDC’s stance: “For months, public health experts have urged Americans to take every precaution to stop the spread of Covid-19—stay at home, steer clear of friends and extended family, and absolutely avoid large gatherings.
Now some of those experts are broadcasting a new message: It’s time to get out of the house and join the mass protests against racism.”
Those actions by the CDC in 2020 had many people remembering blogger David Burge’s rule for what happens when lefties take over an institution.
1. Identify a respected institution.
2. kill it.
3. gut it.
4. wear its carcass as a skin suit, while demanding respect.#lefties— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) November 10, 2015
Now Biden’s HHS appointees are doubling down on absurdity in the name of their weird ideology. While there have been previous pushes from medical organizations to modify language to support biological women who say they are men, such as labeling breastfeeding “chestfeeding” and mother’s milk “parent’s milk,” now, in a push to support transgenderism, the CDC has attacked biology itself at the possible expense of infant health.
The agency has announced that biological men, if pumped full of various “medicines,” can produce “milk” to “chestfeed” infants.
The Daily Mail writes, “Several information pages on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website appear to endorse ‘chestfeeding’ — a term used to describe feeding an infant milk directly from the breast by trans and non-binary parents.
One section, titled ‘Health Equity Considerations’, claims ‘an individual does not need to have given birth to breastfeed or chestfeed.’
Another section in a Q&A about breast surgery, titled ‘Can transgender parents who have had breast surgery breastfeed or chestfeed their infants?’, says families may need help with ‘medication to induce lactation.’
But doctors told DailyMail.com the CDC has a ‘responsibility’ to disclose the lack of research and potential risks. One of the medications used to produce milk in biological men has been linked to heart problems in babies. They claimed the agency was blurring lines between ‘politics and science’.
The new CDC guidance has sparked outrage from doctors and mothers alike.
“We are prioritizing the emotional wants of adult males over the safety of infants,” commentator and author Bethany Mandel told The Daily Signal. “I’ve breastfed six kids—I’ve basically been nursing for a decade. You have to be careful about what kinds of medications you’re taking in.”
“There is no chance that the substance emitted by a male whose body was tricked into lactation is safe, and of course there is no nutritional value to the child,” she added. “This is about prioritizing the adult, not the child.”
Mary Rice Hasson, director of the Person and Identity Project at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, also emphasized to The Daily Signal that “a mother (female!) breastfeeds because it’s good for her baby.”
“A male performing a pseudo-breastfeeding sexual fetish is callously indifferent to the baby’s needs,” she added. “This is perverted, abusive behavior. Any medical provider who facilitates such behavior is complicit in child abuse.”
One of the few doctors in the United States Senate, Roger Marshall from Kansas, also blasted the CDC for putting politics ahead of the health of babies.
“As a physician who has delivered over 5,000 babies and encouraged every mom to breastfeed, it is evident the CDC has placed politics and its social agenda ahead of science and the health of newborns,” Senator Marshall said. “In my opinion, the CDC has lost all credibility and is in direct conflict with the FDA for marketing a non-FDA approved drug. A biological male filled with hormones and a concoction of other drugs that have not been studied that could harm a baby should NEVER be encouraged. When will the Woke Left wake up and realize what they are doing to our country?”
The CDC fails to acknowledge the safety concerns and risks to the infant due to ‘chestfeeding’ and the chemicals and hormones required for the ‘gender reassignment’ surgeries that can be catastrophic when passed on to newborns.
“This guidance is irresponsible from this federal agency and defies science and safety,” Senator Marshall said.“In order to enhance lactation, the CDC is encouraging these individuals to use domperidone, a risky drug not legally approved or sold in the U.S. This dangerous medication has serious side effects that could pose life-threatening complications for adults and more so the infant. None of this has been thoroughly studied, but we know that when you start mixing drugs, the risk of the drugs impacting the newborn baby increases exponentially. How can this possibly be considered a good idea, let alone safe for the baby?”
If a biological man uses the CDC ‘chestfeeding’ guidance and is also using domperidone for breast liquid production, the impact on the infant can be catastrophic. Inevitably, this harmful medication will pass on to the baby and possibly cause the baby to have heart arrhythmias, a serious life-threatening side effect, the very reason the FDA removed it from the market in 2004.
“Another huge concern is what’s missing from this drug-induced lactation colostrum,” Senator Marshall said.“Colostrum is Mother Nature’s nutrient dense, real mother’s milk loaded with antibodies and antioxidants that gives a moms’ protection to the vulnerable newborn. And finally, the liquid produced by biological males will not provide all the nutrition or calories healthy, growing newborn babies need.”
The doctor also noted that one of the drugs involved in making biological men “lactate,” domperidone, was originally made to treat nausea, but because of the harmful side effects causing heart arrhythmias, it was taken off the market by the Food and Drug Administration.
In 2004, the FDA announced, “In response to reports that women may be using an unapproved drug, domperidone, to increase milk production (lactation), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning breastfeeding women not to use this product because of safety concerns.
FDA took these actions because it has become aware that some women who breastfeed and/or pump breast milk are purchasing this drug, domperidone, from compounding pharmacies and from sources in foreign countries to increase breast milk production. Domperidone may increase the secretion of prolactin, a hormone that is needed for lactation.
Although domperidone is approved in several countries outside the U.S. to treat certain gastric disorders, it is not approved in any country, including the U.S., for enhancing breast milk production in lactating women and is also not approved in the U.S. for any indication.
The agency is concerned with the potential public health risks associated with domperidone. There have been several published reports and case studies of cardiac arrhythmias, cardiac arrest, and sudden death in patients receiving an intravenous form of domperidone that has been withdrawn from marketing in a number of countries. In several countries where the oral form of domperidone continues to be marketed, labels for the product contain specific warnings against use of domperidone by breastfeeding women and note that the drug is excreted in breast milk that could expose a breastfeeding infant to unknown risks. Because of the possibility of serious adverse effects, FDA recommends that breastfeeding women not use domperidone to increase milk production.”
Under Biden, the Department of Health and Human Services has been heavily criticized for its push for gender transition, especially among children.
In February, a “queer woman and politically to the left of Bernie Sanders” whistleblower called out HHS “for lying to the public about the sterilization of children in the name of promoting transgender procedures.” She claims that hospitals often steer teenagers to transition because it brings in so much money to medical centers and that few guardrails exist to prevent abuse.
